John Lewis Partnership Taps Kevel for On-Site Retail Media Network

The John Lewis Partnership has appointed media technology firm Kevel to power its on-site retail communications network across both John Lewis department stores and Waitrose supermarket websites.

The partnership will see Kevel's platform manage the retail media inventory on John Lewis and Waitrose's digital properties, enabling the group to more effectively monetize its on-site advertising space. Kevel's headless ad server and API-first approach will allow for greater customization and integration with existing systems.

John Lewis Partnership described the move as a "huge step forward" in its digital media retail offer, aiming to enhance the shopping experience for customers while creating new revenue streams. The collaboration will allow the group to deliver more relevant ads based on shopper behavior and preferences.

The retailer, which operates one of the UK's largest department store chains and a major supermarket brand, has been expanding its retail media capabilities. Kevel's technology is designed to handle high volumes of ad requests and provide real-time bidding and targeting.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The rollout is expected to begin in the coming months, starting with select digital channels before expanding across the entire online portfolio.
