Hamburg Airport Issues EU Tenders for Six Shops and Five Food & Beverage Units

Hamburg Airport has launched two EU-wide tenders covering six retail spaces and five food and beverage units, with openings to be phased in from 2028. The German airport is seeking contemporary concepts across public and security-zone locations.

The two EU-wide tenders split the opportunities between six shops and five food and beverage areas, with sites located in both the public terminal area and the security zone. Hamburg Airport said the emphasis is on contemporary formats, broad product ranges and strong customer service.

The food and beverage units are expected to concentrate on fresh food and drinks for takeaway, while the retail spaces are intended for news and reading materials alongside journey necessities and products exclusive to the airport.

Applications are being accepted through Hamburg Airport's TED tendering platform. The airport plans to hand over and open the outlets in stages starting in 2028.

Lutz Deubel, head of center management at Hamburg Airport, said the airport is looking for partners that add to the passenger experience, whether through a quick meal before a flight, reading material for the journey or a local souvenir. He said the aim is to attract operators with distinctive concepts that draw a connection to Hamburg and the surrounding region.

The tenders expand an existing shopping and dining offer at the northern German airport, which is seeking additional partners across both landside and airside space.
