AI Agents Could Turn Time Between Trips Into Revenue Channel
Airlines and travel companies are deploying AI agents that remember customer context across journeys, potentially turning service moments into direct bookings and loyalty.
Long-horizon AI agents are emerging as a way for travel brands to connect interactions across a fragmented customer journey. By carrying context from one conversation into the next, they aim to extend the value of customer service beyond a single trip and build a persistent source of revenue.
A recent survey of nearly 7,000 travelers found that trip discovery now spans search, social media, and AI tools. More than 60% of travelers aware of AI already use it to plan trips, yet bookings remain concentrated on fewer channels where price, trust, and payment flexibility matter most.
For airlines, the challenge is maintaining customer relationships across that fragmented experience. Travelers often encounter the same carrier at several touchpoints, and customer-facing AI agents can already handle individual tasks such as answering questions, changing reservations, and resolving issues.
The next step is to link those isolated service moments over time. If AI agents retain context and act on signals between trips, they could help airlines transform casual interactions into direct bookings, loyalty, and growth.
Airline leaders in customer experience, loyalty, and digital operations now face a strategic choice about how to integrate AI agents across functions that have traditionally worked separately.
