Wispr Flow Prepares to Launch Meeting Notetaker, Updated Terms Suggest
Dictation app Wispr Flow is moving into meeting transcription, with updated terms of service signaling a new notetaker feature that will generate summaries and action items.
Wispr Flow has updated its terms of service and privacy policy, a move that signals the launch of a dedicated meeting notetaker. The company also emailed customers about the changes, which were made to accommodate the new functionality.
The revised terms include new sections covering how meeting data is handled and what the notetaker will do. Input may include meeting audio, participant information, meeting metadata, speaker labels, and transcripts, while output could consist of AI-generated transcripts, summaries, action items, meeting insights, and speaker attribution.
With this feature, Wispr Flow enters a competitive space already occupied by meeting notetakers such as Granola, Fireflies, Read AI, Otter, and Fathom. The startup appears to be expanding beyond its core dictation product to offer a broader AI-powered assistant.
Co-founder Tanay Kothari has previously discussed building an AI assistant, and a meeting notetaker would provide the company with additional user context, enabling it to automate tasks beyond cleaning up spoken sentences.
It remains unclear whether Wispr Flow plans a Granola-style notetaker that uses system audio without keeping a recording, or a full-fledged meeting recording tool.
