Optimax Eyewear Widens Vertically Integrated Push as Online Prescription Eyewear Matures

Optimax Eyewear, the Atlanta-based parent of GlassesUSA.com, is expanding a vertically integrated model spanning retail, manufacturing and technology as online eyewear enters a more mature phase.

Optimax Eyewear has moved well beyond the direct-to-consumer roots it planted in 2008, assembling an operation that now stretches across retail, manufacturing and technology under a single corporate roof.

The company was founded in 2008 by Chief Executive Officer Daniel Rothman together with his brother, Chief Operating Officer Eldad Rothman, and Chief Technology Officer Roy Yamner. It is headquartered in Atlanta and sits behind GlassesUSA.com, OTTICA, FORK Eyewear and United Vision Plan, alongside a broadening portfolio in vision care, manufacturing and technology.

Rothman described the eyewear market as anything but one-dimensional, saying the group was built to serve it from several angles at once. In his telling, customers are looking for selection, value, speed, service and confidence simultaneously, which requires owned technology, production, data and operations to hold the entire journey together.

The strategy lands as online eyewear settles into a more mature phase. Consumers are growing more assured about buying prescription products digitally, and retailers are directing investment toward faster fulfillment, improved fit technology and smoother omnichannel journeys.

Competition is intensifying across price points and formats at the same time, pushing operators to rethink how value is created and captured. While many retail categories moved online years ago, eyewear is now shifting from fragmented retail toward a more integrated, technology-led ecosystem.
