JetBlue raises checked bag fees for second time in 2026

JetBlue has raised checked-bag fees again in 2026, with economy passengers now paying $50 to check a bag more than 24 hours before departure. The U.S. carrier is the first to lift baggage charges twice this year as fuel costs erode industry profits.

Economy travelers who pay for a checked bag more than 24 hours before departure now face a $50 charge, up from $45. A bag checked within 24 hours of departure costs $60.

During peak travel periods, the fee rises to $55 from $49. Passengers checking a bag less than 24 hours before a peak-period flight pay $70.

The increase is JetBlue’s second baggage-fee hike in 2026, making it the first U.S. carrier to raise those fees twice in the same year.

The move comes as surging fuel costs wipe out much of the airline industry’s profits. It tests how much more travelers will absorb.
