Boots Expands Midnight Delivery Via Deliveroo for World Cup Fans

Boots is extending on-demand delivery hours until midnight at 25 UK locations through Deliveroo, tapping into World Cup viewership spikes and rising demand for same-day essentials.

The pharmacy and beauty retailer has launched late-night delivery across 25 UK stores via the Deliveroo platform, enabling football fans to order items such as suncare, hay fever tablets, and pain relief without leaving their screens. The expansion brings Boots' total on-demand service footprint to 500 stores accessible through Deliveroo, Uber Eats, and Just Eat.

Data from recent England matches drove the initiative. Ahead of England's games on June 17 and 23, Boots recorded a 200% surge in orders for suncare and SPF products and an 80% increase in hay fever tablet orders during match buildup hours. The spike reflects fans preparing for outdoor viewing or stadium attendance during summer conditions.

Post-match recovery also boosted orders. In the early hours of June 18, following England's victory over Croatia, ibuprofen orders rose more than 50% as viewers sought relief after late-night celebrations. The trend underscores how major sporting events reshape consumer behavior around urgent health and wellness needs.

Deliveroo's VP of Consumer and New Verticals, Suzy McClintock, noted that football tournaments keep the nation glued to screens, making convenience delivery a necessity. The partnership aims to ensure fans can stay focused on the game without compromising on essential purchases.
