Apple's Touchscreen MacBook Pro Tops Out at $14,549 Fully Loaded

Apple has opened its touchscreen MacBook Pro era with a starting price of $2,899, but a fully configured 16-inch model reaches $14,549. The previous 16-inch MacBook Pro capped out at $10,149.

Apple's online configurator lists the maxed-out 14-inch touchscreen MacBook Pro at $14,249, while the 16-inch version reaches $14,549, according to pricing surfaced by MacRumors. Both top configurations carry Apple's M5 Max chip, which pairs an 18-core CPU with a 40-core GPU.

Storage drives much of the climb. Moving to a 4TB SSD adds $1,000, an 8TB drive adds $3,000, and the new 16TB option costs another $7,000. A 128GB memory upgrade adds $2,000, and nano-texture glass tacks on $150.

For comparison, the prior-generation 16-inch MacBook Pro topped out at $10,149, meaning the new ceiling sits $4,400 higher.

The entry point for the lineup is $2,899. Pricing pressure has been linked in part to an ongoing memory shortage and AI's demand for hardware components.
