AMAN Opens First Mexico Resort: Amanvari on Baja California Sur's East Cape
AMAN has inaugurated Amanvari, its debut Mexican resort, an 18-casita hideaway set on the Sea of Cortez within the Costa Palmas community near Los Cabos.
The property occupies a quiet estuary corner of the 1,500-acre Costa Palmas development on Baja California Sur's East Cape, roughly 45 minutes from Los Cabos airport. The name Amanvari draws from Sanskrit for 'peace' and 'water'.
Designed by Heah & Co. Architects and realized by Elastic Architects, the resort blends desert, farmland and sea. The 18 casitas, each about 833 square feet, feature private heated pools, outdoor showers, and terraces overlooking the Sea of Cortez or the Sierra de la Laguna mountains. Most sit on elevated ground, with a few along the estuary or on the sand.
Three restaurants anchor the culinary program: Arva for Italian, Sesui for Japanese omakase at a 10-seat counter, and Luma for Mexican seafood and open-fire cooking, plus lounge and pool bars. Much of the produce comes from the community's 18 acres of organic orchards and farms.
