Senegalese pride drives Lagardère Travel Retail’s African success
Lagardère Travel Retail’s West, Central & East Africa division, based in Dakar, is led by a young, diverse team that champions local talent and innovation at Blaise Diagne International Airport.
Since 2017, Lagardère Travel Retail has operated stores at Dakar Blaise Diagne International Airport. The regional division, led by CEO Sountou Bousso since 2020, has become a model of local empowerment. Management and staff are predominantly Senegalese, with women well represented at senior levels and most key decision makers under 40 years old.
The fast-growing unit has developed its own in-house brands for both dining and retail, reflecting a strong spirit of creativity and innovation. Bousso and his team focus on community commitment and nurturing local talent, making the division distinctly African despite the parent company’s French roots.
