Marriott Confirms Global Corporate Restructuring With Job Cuts
Marriott International is cutting corporate roles worldwide in a restructuring that will not affect hotel staff, the company confirmed Wednesday. The hotel group did not disclose how many employees are affected and is due to report third-quarter results on November 2.
The cuts are confined to what Marriott described as "some corporate disciplines," with the company saying hotel-level employees are excluded from the initiative. Marriott declined to specify the number of positions being eliminated.
Employees discussing the restructuring online have pointed to roles in human resources, IT, guest complaints and quality assurance as among those affected. The company said some of the workers impacted may be able to move into newly posted roles.
The confirmation comes ahead of Marriott's third-quarter earnings release on November 2. The Bethesda, Maryland-based hotel group operates properties worldwide under brands including Marriott Hotels and Sheraton.
The restructuring affects corporate operations rather than the staff who run Marriott's hotels and serve guests.
