Moonshot AI Unveils Kimi K3, a Massive New AI Model for Coding and Reasoning
Beijing-based Moonshot AI has launched Kimi K3, a large language model with 2.8 trillion parameters and a one-million-token context window, targeting coding, reasoning and complex knowledge work.
Kimi K3 is designed specifically for long-horizon coding tasks that involve planning, writing and testing code. The company aims to lower the barrier for non-developers to create products such as campaign landing pages, internal sales tools, interactive games or rough app prototypes. Professional developers remain necessary for security, but the model could democratize access to building software.
The launch generated such high demand that Moonshot temporarily halted new Kimi subscriptions as its GPU capacity neared its limit. The company plans to release K3's model weights on July 27, opening the technology to external developers.
