Malin + Goetz’s Tomato Collection Keeps Growing as Home Scent Sales Rise

The brand expanded its Tomato line this summer with offerings ranging from an $18 hand lotion to a limited-edition $205 jumbo three-wick candle created in collaboration with Carbone, the famed New York City restaurant. The collection now spans multiple formats and price points.

Malin + Goetz was among the first fragrance and skin-care brands to embrace the vegetable scent trend when it launched its Tomato candle in 2020, the same year Loewe and Flamingo Estate introduced their own tomato candles. Since then, the note has spread to mass-market players such as Bath & Body Works and Mrs. Meyers, yet demand at the prestige and luxury end remains strong.

According to the brand, sales of its Tomato collection have grown 52% year over year, reflecting continued consumer appetite for the scent despite wider availability. The growth is part of a larger uptick in the company’s home fragrance category, which includes candles and room sprays.

Home fragrance sales rose 11.4% in the first half of 2026 compared with the same period a year earlier, while overall retail sales increased 6% during that stretch. The brand, which is based in New York, continues to see double-digit growth in the Tomato franchise and the broader home scent segment.
