Luxury Sector Poised to Capitalize on EU-India Free Trade Deal

The EU-India free trade agreement, signed earlier this year, is expected to take effect in 2027, opening new opportunities for luxury businesses. The Comité Colbert and the Franco-Indian Chamber of Commerce are working to facilitate market access.

The free trade agreement between the European Union and India, finalized earlier this year, is projected to come into force in 2027. The pact is expected to reduce tariffs and streamline regulations, making it easier for luxury goods to flow between the two markets.

The Comité Colbert, an association of French luxury houses, is collaborating with the Franco-Indian Chamber of Commerce to help members prepare for the new trading landscape. Their efforts include providing guidance on regulatory compliance and market entry strategies.

Luxury brands are particularly interested in India, where rising wealth and consumer appetite for high-end goods are creating new demand. The FTA is seen as a catalyst to accelerate growth in the region.
