L'Oréal Invests in OliX Pharmaceuticals via BOLD Fund

South Korean biotech OliX Pharmaceuticals has raised $71 million in a funding round co-led by L'Oréal's venture fund BOLD and Weiss Asset Management.

OliX focuses on developing therapies that regulate disease-causing gene expression using RNAi technology. The company's proprietary platform, OliX Advanced Small Interfering RNA System (OASIS), enhances gene-silencing efficiency and enables tissue-specific delivery, allowing for locally administered treatments.

The company is advancing pipeline programs for several indications, including hair loss, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and hypertrophic scars, with multiple candidates currently in clinical stages. The investment will support OliX’s strategic plan, dubbed the "OliX 2.0 Roadmap," aimed at expanding the application of RNAi therapeutics across a broader range of diseases.

The involvement of BOLD underscores L'Oréal's interest in biotechnology-driven solutions for hair loss and dermatological conditions. OliX's technology could offer novel treatment options for common beauty and health concerns.
