Kering Signs MoUs with Eight Italian Schools to Revitalize Craft Education
Kering has signed memorandums of understanding with eight educational institutions in Milan's Mind innovation district, launching a network to merge traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation.
The agreements were finalized at Campus Valore Italia within the Mind Milano innovation district. The partner schools include ACOF, AFOL, Capac, Galdus, HModa, ITS Cosmo, Istituto Modartech and Schola.
To oversee strategic development, Kering has formed the “Comitato di pensiero” think tank, led by Sabina Belli, head of Kering Accademia per le eccellenze and CEO of Pomellato. The committee also includes Alba Cappellieri, head of jewellery and accessory design at Politecnico di Milano; Angelo Crespi, director general of the Pinacoteca di Brera and other cultural institutions; and Stefania Lazzaroni, director general of Altagamma.
“We do not simply want to pass on a technique inherited from the past, but to transform traditional crafts into dynamic, contemporary and strongly future-oriented professions,” Belli said. She emphasized the need to combine “the precious ‘intelligence of the hands’ with critical thinking, creativity and technological innovation.”
The network aims to create a widespread ecosystem that projects traditional crafts into the future, aligning with Kering's broader talent development strategy for its luxury brands.
