Jackie Chan’s ‘The Shadow’s Edge’ Takes Overall Best Film at 23rd Abuja International Film Festival
The Chinese action-thriller starring Jackie Chan won Overall Best Film at the 23rd Abuja International Film Festival in Nigeria on October 25, topping a field of local and international contenders.
The award was announced at the close of the festival’s 23rd edition, held in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja. The film prevailed over a competitive lineup that included both Nigerian and international entries.
Chan, 71, headlines the project in what has been described as his darkest and most brutal role to date, appearing alongside a cast of emerging Asian stars. The film’s heavily stylized combat sequences were cited as a decisive factor in the jury’s decision.
The win lands in a market with one of the world’s most prolific film industries, Nollywood, giving the Chinese production a notable reception in West Africa.
‘The Shadow’s Edge’ is an action-thriller built around martial arts choreography and a visceral visual style, elements that carried it to the festival’s top prize.
