Hyatt to Open Three Hotels in Italy by 2028, Including Park Hyatt Taormina

Hyatt will expand its Italian portfolio with three new properties expected to open by 2028, adding 428 rooms and suites across Rome and Taormina. The planned openings include the country's first Hyatt Regency and Thompson Hotels properties.

Hyatt Regency Rome Central is slated to open near Termini train station at the end of the third quarter of 2026. The hotel will target business and events travelers, offering direct access to transport and convention facilities.

Thompson Rome will debut the Thompson Hotels lifestyle brand in Italy in the fourth quarter of 2026. The 69-room property will occupy a repurposed heritage building near the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Piazza Venezia, and will feature three dining venues including a rooftop cocktail bar and an Italian Riviera-inspired restaurant on the sixth floor.

A Park Hyatt in Taormina, Sicily, is also part of the expansion, though further details have not yet been disclosed. The additions will broaden Hyatt's brand presence in Italy across upper-upscale, lifestyle and luxury segments.

Hyatt currently operates six hotels under five brands in Italy, with locations in Milan, Venice, Rome, Florence and Sardinia. The new projects underscore the role of conversions in bringing global brands to high-demand Italian destinations.
