Hangover-Prevention Supplements Move Into Mainstream Retail and Fine Dining
A new wave of gummies, jellies and drinks promises drinkers the fun of alcohol without the hangover, and the products are now appearing everywhere from big-box stores to upscale steakhouses.
Hangover-prevention supplements have expanded far beyond specialty wellness shops. Gummies, drinks and jellies designed to be taken before or while drinking alcohol are now stocked at big-box retailers, convenience stores, resorts and even fine-dining restaurants, as businesses cater to young drinkers who also prioritize health.
The products typically contain ingredients such as Dihydromyricetin (DHM), electrolytes and vitamins to help mitigate alcohol's effects. Zbiotics, a pre-alcohol prebiotic drink, was recently spotted on the menu at New York City's Cote Korean Steakhouse, retailing at $12 per shot alongside the restaurant's $23 martinis.
Newer entrants are also gaining traction. Day-guard, a Korean pre-alcohol jelly created by two Brown University students, launched recently with a promise to prevent hangovers. Liqure, a line of anti-hangover gummies that started three years ago, is now expanding into convenience stores.
Pre-alcohol gummy brand Undo launched in 2025, rooted in Las Vegas nightlife culture. Co-founders Ben Delamont, Jen Delamont and Kevin Mai met at the Wynn resort and casino, where they also got their first opportunity to sample the product at a live event. In August, Undo announced a $1 million seed round to fuel its next phase of growth.
Undo's retail footprint has grown quickly. In mid-August, the brand rolled out to 889 Target locations nationwide, after already entering 1,000 independent stores, including resorts and 7-Eleven Hawaii locations.
