Gen Z Skips Consultations, Goes Straight to Injectables in Medical Aesthetics

New data from Guidepoint Qsight reveals that Gen Z patients are entering medical aesthetics directly through injectable treatments, bypassing initial consultations, and driving demand for Botox, laser treatments, GLP-1s, and Hydrafacials.

According to a new report from medical aesthetics data provider Guidepoint Qsight, Gen Z consumers are adopting a distinctive approach to aesthetic procedures. The report, titled "Needle First: How Gen Z is Rewriting the Aesthetic Patient Journey," uses proprietary patient spending data to analyze the cohort's behavior.

Findings indicate that Gen Z often skips consultation appointments and proceeds directly to injectable treatments such as neurotoxins like Botox. This contrasts with older generations, who typically start with less invasive steps. Neurotoxins generate the highest revenue among treatments, making the initial appointment crucial for patient retention.

The data highlights Gen Z's growing comfort with preventative aesthetics and self-care procedures. Erik Haines, Managing Director of Guidepoint Qsight, noted that while it has been known that Gen Z patients seek treatments, the report provides granular insights into their entry points, return visits, spending patterns, and revenue opportunities.

Key services attracting Gen Z include injectables, laser treatments, GLP-1 medications, and Hydrafacials. The report emphasizes that the quality of the first appointment is especially important for building loyalty and repeat visits among this younger demographic.
