Gebr. Heinemann and Berlin Brandenburg Airport Extend Partnership with Major Retail Expansion

Gebr. Heinemann has renewed its duty-free and travel value contract with Berlin Brandenburg Airport, planning to expand Terminal 1 retail space to around 3,800 square metres.

The long-term agreement will see the current retail footprint in Terminal 1 grow significantly, creating a more spacious airside marketplace. The project aims to blend an enlarged shopping area with a food and beverage zone that offers direct views of the apron.

Company officials said the initiative underlines a shared ambition to make the passenger environment more attractive, convenient, and experience-oriented for international travellers. The redesign is expected to introduce new retail concepts in a more inviting setting, encouraging passengers to spend additional time in the commercial area.

Florian Seidel, Chief Sales Officer at Gebr. Heinemann, described the contract extension as a strong sign of mutual trust and a demonstration of the company's commitment to developing airport retail concepts tailored to traveller needs. He noted that the expansion would allow for a future-oriented environment combining targeted product offerings with enhanced convenience.

Steffen Jopp, Managing Director at Berlin Brandenburg Airport for Gebr. Heinemann, added that the additional space would enable the introduction of new concepts and help create a more appealing atmosphere. The partners said the project forms part of their ongoing effort to elevate the overall passenger experience at BER.
