Estée Lauder posts 7% sales growth as fragrance lifts quarterly results

The Estée Lauder Companies reported net sales of $3.7 billion for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, up 7%, with fragrance delivering the strongest gains across its portfolio.

Fragrance net sales climbed 20% in the quarter, powered by luxury labels including Tom Ford, Le Labo and Kilian Paris. Three of the company's four categories recorded higher sales in the period.

Skin care advanced 4%. Makeup edged up 1%, with MAC posting gains while the Estée Lauder brand declined. Hair care was flat for the quarter.

President and CEO Stéphane de La Faverie pointed to the prestige price tier as a priority, noting high penetration of luxury fragrances in Eastern markets. He said the company again recorded strong share gains in China, Korea and Japan.

De La Faverie cited launches including Estée Lauder Glimmer, introduced in August, and Destin De Balmain, introduced in February, as vehicles for building share of the prestige fragrance category.

The company is also pursuing TikTok Shop as an emerging retail channel for fragrance.
