Dubai Duty Free Brings Diwali Celebrations to DXB Ahead of 8 November Festival

Dubai Duty Free is marking Diwali with cultural performances and a ceremonial diya lighting at Dubai International Airport, with festivities running until the main festival date on 8 November.

A special event at DXB Concourse B gathered Dubai Duty Free's senior management team and Indian staff alongside the Consul General of India in Dubai, His Excellency Dr Emmadi Vishnu Vardhan Reddy. The programme combined traditional Indian customs with live cultural performance, culminating in the ceremonial lighting of electric diyas and a classical dance showcase.

Managing Director Ramesh Cidambi said the retailer employs close to 1,000 Indian nationals and that Indian travellers represent 13-14% of its business, describing India as a long-standing and critical market for both the airport and the travel retail operator.

Cidambi added that hosting the Consul General for the occasion was a privilege, framing the celebrations as recognition of a festival observed widely across the world.

The activation reflects the weight of Indian passenger traffic at Dubai International Airport, where the festival of lights ranks among the most significant annual occasions for the duty free business. Celebrations continue through to Diwali's main date on 8 November.
