DoorDash and TikTok Shop expand easier returns options
DoorDash has added retail returns with a $7.99 pickup fee, while TikTok Shop now lets shoppers return items through Happy Returns drop-off locations. Both moves reflect a push to make returns more convenient as marketplaces compete for sales.
DoorDash’s retail returns service, announced in September, sends a driver to collect an item in as little as 30 minutes so customers do not have to pack and ship it themselves. The service is live in select cities and is expected to roll out nationwide in November. Customers pay $7.99 per return.
TikTok Shop’s integration with Happy Returns gives brands and retailers on the platform another return option. If a merchant opts in, shoppers can send back an item by dropping it off in person at one of 10,000 nationwide locations.
Patrick Nommenson, TikTok Shop’s president of strategic initiatives, said the Happy Returns collaboration builds on the company’s effort to make returns faster, more hassle-free and more trustworthy for shoppers.
More marketplaces and delivery platforms are treating easy returns as a way to win more sales. DoorDash and TikTok Shop are both adding options that reduce the work required from shoppers when sending items back.
