Curie Unveils Gender-Neutral Rebrand as Mass-Market Beauty Evolves
Body care brand Curie has refreshed its identity with a gender-neutral, 'clean performance' rebrand after eight years, reflecting its expansion beyond deodorant and the growing sophistication of mass-market beauty.
Eight years after launching as a direct-to-consumer clean deodorant brand, Curie is updating its positioning and design, but not its formulas, as it enters its next phase of growth. The rebrand is centered on 'clean performance,' a concept that better reflects the brand's evolution beyond deodorant and changes in consumer attitudes toward wellness, movement and community.
The update, completed over more than nine months with creative agency Gander (known for work with Magic Spoon, Graza and Banza), involved a six-figure investment. It replaces Curie's existing identity with a bolder, movement-inspired design featuring an italicized wordmark and an abstract Strider icon to reinforce the new positioning.
Founder and CEO Sarah Moret noted that Curie is an 'eight-figure, profitable business.' She said, 'We wanted the outsides to match the insides. We've grown, our business has grown, our customers have grown with us. It was time for the brand to catch up to where the business has gone.' She added that 'clean' often translates as soft, but they wanted bolder and more confident.
The rebrand comes as mass-market personal care becomes more sophisticated. Retailers like Target are being compared to Whole Foods, and Walmart has brought more than 70 beauty brands into its stores over the past year. Consumers increasingly seek products that combine clean ingredients with performance and convenience.
The 10 signature scents and ingredient formulations remain unchanged.
