Beauty CEOs Urge EU to Simplify Regulations

The Value of Beauty Alliance, a CEO-led industry group, is calling on EU policymakers to reduce regulatory complexity, warning that compliance burdens are hindering innovation and growth in Europe's beauty and personal care sector.

The Value of Beauty Alliance, representing major beauty and personal care companies across the European Union, has issued an urgent appeal for regulatory reform. The group describes the current framework as fragmented, unpredictable, and increasingly complex.

According to the alliance, the European beauty and personal care value chain contributes €180 billion ($208.6 billion) to EU GDP and generates nearly €30 billion ($34.7 billion) in annual exports. The sector supports 3.2 million skilled jobs.

CEOs warn that other global markets are advancing with coordinated industrial strategies, while European companies face rising energy costs, regulatory burdens, and a disconnect between policy ambitions and innovation cycles. They are calling for coherent regulation, simplification, fair implementation, stronger trade alignment, and better conditions for innovation.

The alliance stressed that without immediate action, Europe risks weakening one of its most competitive industries. The statement urges EU leaders to safeguard the region's industrial champions through more supportive policy frameworks.
