Apple cuts more than 200 roles across Siri, Vision Pro teams
Apple has confirmed layoffs impacting over 200 employees, including about half from the Vision Pro team and others from Siri and AI integration groups, as it pivots toward new AI initiatives.
Apple is trimming its workforce as it redirects resources toward newer artificial intelligence projects. The company confirmed that a limited number of roles are affected, saying it needs "to evolve our business to deliver the best experiences for our users."
According to people familiar with the matter, more than 200 positions were eliminated. Around 100 came from the team behind the Vision Pro headset, while another 100 affected Siri and the Intelligent Systems Experience group, which focuses on integrating AI into devices.
The move is part of a broader reshuffling that prioritizes efforts in AI and upcoming hardware. Apple has been under pressure to strengthen its AI position amid rising production costs driven by a memory shortage. The company raised prices on Macs and iPads earlier this summer and introduced a leasing plan for its major products to attract customers.
Separately, Apple is suing OpenAI over allegations of trade theft. The legal action adds another layer to Apple's turbulent transition as it recalibrates its product roadmap.
