Airbnb Adds Car Rentals Through CarTrawler Partnership

Airbnb has launched car rental services in five countries via a partnership with CarTrawler, deepening its transformation into a full-service travel platform.

The home-sharing giant now offers car rentals through CarTrawler, a mobility platform that is simultaneously being acquired by Expedia Group. The rollout covers five countries, with more expected to follow.

This move is the latest in Airbnb's quiet shift toward becoming a traditional online travel agency. Already, the platform books homes, hotels, experiences, services, and airport pickups. Adding car rentals fills a key gap in its travel ecosystem.

The partnership comes as Expedia moves to absorb CarTrawler, creating an interesting dynamic: Airbnb is relying on a partner that will soon be owned by a direct competitor. The deal signals Airbnb's ambition to be the only travel app users need.

CarTrawler provides car rental connectivity to major OTAs and airlines. Airbnb's integration allows guests to book vehicles directly within the app, alongside their accommodation and other travel components.
