Western Sydney Airport Taps Global Exchange for Currency Services Ahead of October Opening
Western Sydney International Airport has appointed Global Exchange to provide currency exchange services across its terminals ahead of its scheduled passenger opening on 25 October.
Global Exchange will operate terminal bureaus, ATMs and an online currency pre-ordering service at the new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI). The Spanish foreign exchange specialist has secured the contract as the airport prepares to welcome its first passengers later this year.
WSI is on track to begin domestic and international passenger services on 25 October, following the launch of cargo operations by the end of July. The airport, which will operate 24 hours a day, is Sydney's second international gateway.
Global Exchange operates in 30 markets and has a presence at more than 90 international airports worldwide, offering access to over 60 currencies through a network built over three decades.
WSI CEO Simon Hickey said the appointment marks another step in building the airport's retail experience. "We're thrilled to welcome Global Exchange to WSI as the countdown to opening Sydney's new 24-hour international gateway gets closer each week," Hickey said. "Global Exchange brings a wealth of experience and valuable exchange services that our passengers will be able to conveniently access on their travels from WSI."
