Urban Outfitters Deepens Beauty Push with Yes Day Launch; Coty Transfers Gucci Beauty Back to Kering
Urban Outfitters has expanded its beauty assortment with the brick-and-mortar debut of tween brand Yes Day, while Coty has returned the Gucci Beauty license to Kering ahead of schedule. Separately, Bobbi Brown’s son has stepped down as CEO of Jones Road, and Sol de Janeiro is entering the men's fragrance market.
Urban Outfitters has welcomed Yes Day, a skin-care brand founded by 13-year-old Coco Granderson, into 60 of its U.S. stores and online. The retailer, which says its UO Insiders use an average of 28 beauty products per week, is focusing on youth culture and expanding its beauty range.
Karen Booker, head of merchandising for non-apparel at Urban Outfitters, said the retailer aims to tailor its offerings to young consumers, noting beauty is a key part of that. Yes Day joins other recent additions like Sol de Janeiro body mists.
In a separate move, Coty has transferred the Gucci Beauty license back to Kering earlier than expected. The return of the fragrance and cosmetics line to Kering, which owns Gucci, was completed ahead of the original timeline.
Elsewhere, Bobbi Brown’s son has resigned as CEO of Jones Road, the makeup brand founded by Brown. Leadership changes are underway at the company.
Sol de Janeiro, known for body fragrances, is targeting the male fragrance market with new products aimed at men.
