Uber is laying off 3,300 employees and reducing management roles by 20% as it refocuses on ridesharing, delivery, and robotaxis.
Uber has announced plans to eliminate 3,300 positions and trim 20% of its managerial workforce as part of a broad reorganization. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi communicated the changes in an internal email to employees.
The company said the restructuring will not directly affect its product portfolio, but will instead concentrate resources on its core businesses. Uber intends to strengthen its ridesharing and delivery operations while accelerating investments in autonomous vehicle technology, particularly robotaxis.
The layoffs are accompanied by a series of team consolidations across the organization, aimed at streamlining operations and reducing management layers. The moves signal a shift in priority toward areas Uber views as critical to its future growth.
According to the company, the reorganization is designed to position Uber more competitively in its main markets and to support its ambitions in self-driving mobility services.
