Travelex takes five-year exclusive FX and tax refund mandate at Düsseldorf Airport
Düsseldorf Airport has awarded Travelex a five-year contract to run foreign exchange and tax refund services exclusively from 1 February 2027, extending the operator's German airport network to six sites.
Under the deal, Travelex will initially open five bureaux de change alongside ATMs across the airport's arrivals and departures areas. Two of the locations will be landside and three airside, with more than 50 currencies on offer to passengers.
The contract begins on 1 February 2027 and covers both foreign exchange and tax refund services on an exclusive basis. Düsseldorf joins Frankfurt, Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne and Munich in the group's German portfolio, taking Travelex to six of the country's busiest airports.
Anja Dauser, Head of Commercial at Düsseldorf Airport, said the airport aims to rank among the best in Europe in the category of up to 30 million passengers. She said that goal requires efficient infrastructure and strong operational performance, as well as a sustained commitment to service quality across the passenger journey.
Dauser added that the airport's transformation into what it calls a "Destination of Excellence" depends on partners who share its service standards. No financial terms of the five-year agreement were disclosed.
The award places currency and tax refund operations at one of Germany's larger aviation hubs under a single provider from early 2027.
