Hotel Kämp in Helsinki finishes its most extensive modern renovation
Helsinki's Hotel Kämp, a fixture on Esplanadi Park since 1887, has completed the largest renovation in its modern history, adding roughly 3,100 square metres through the neighbouring Helander House.
Work on the refurbishment started in late 2023 and was carried out in stages over three years, allowing the hotel to keep welcoming guests while construction moved through the building. The completion was marked on November 5, 2026.
The programme touched nearly every part of the property, from reception and public areas to guest rooms, suites, the restaurant, bar and spa. New additions include the À La Kämp restaurant concept, a reworked Kämp Bar, an overhauled Kämp Spa and Kämp Delicatessen.
The footprint has also grown. The main entrance has been restored to its original position facing the Esplanade, and the integration of the adjacent Helander House contributes approximately 3,100 square metres to the hotel.
That extension brings 22 additional guest rooms, 15 of them suites. Finnish design agency Fyra was tasked in the first phase with refreshing the interiors of rooms and corridors in both the original building and Helander House.
The hotel has anchored Helsinki's cultural, political and social life since opening on Esplanadi Park in 1887, drawing artists and international visitors across more than a century of operation.
