Tesla Cybercab Details: No Children Under 13 Allowed in Robotaxi
Tesla has revealed new details about its Cybercab robotaxi, including a policy barring children under 13 from riding, even with a parent. The disclosures followed a low-key private launch event.
The Cybercab launch event was markedly different from Tesla's typical large, livestreamed showcases. The keynote reportedly lasted only about 15 minutes, and CEO Elon Musk did not appear to speak.
Tesla is positioning the Cybercab as a fully autonomous vehicle powered only by cameras and AI, with a targeted cost below that of a Waymo robotaxi. The company released additional specifications in PDFs on Thursday and updated terms of service in its Robotaxi app.
Among the new details, Tesla's Cybercab fine print states that minors under 13 are not allowed to ride “at this time,” even with a parent. The restriction is more stringent than the policy for Model Y SUVs currently used in the company's robotaxi operations.
The rollout has drawn regulatory scrutiny, with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration already opening an investigation into Tesla's Cybercab deployment.
