NikeSKIMS Signals Mainland China Debut With Shanghai Hoardings
NikeSKIMS, the women's activewear brand from Nike and Kim Kardashian's SKIMS, has teased its first mainland China store with hoardings in Shanghai reading 'Coming Fall 2026'.
Hoardings have gone up in Shanghai for NikeSKIMS, indicating the label's first retail space in mainland China is slated for autumn 2026. The signage, displayed under the NikeSKIMS name, marks a significant expansion for the joint venture.
NikeSKIMS is a women's activewear line developed by Nike with SKIMS, the shapewear and underwear company founded by Kim Kardashian. Following a positive response in the US, the brand is eyeing China with a product range that spans gym, studio, and lifestyle wear, alongside footwear and accessories.
The brand's core proposition is workout clothing that functions as everyday leisurewear, but NikeSKIMS stands apart through body-contour design and Nike's sport authority. That positioning puts it in direct competition with Lululemon, which occupies a similar premium price band in the US for essentials like sports bras and leggings.
Pricing in China is unlikely to shift dramatically from US levels. Instead, NikeSKIMS is expected to compete on its ability to deliver a 'Kardashian silhouette' through its signature shaping aesthetics.
Still, the newcomer faces an established rival. Lululemon has spent a decade building its ecosystem in China, and NikeSKIMS will need more than buzz to challenge that foothold. The Shanghai location, however, places it among some of global fashion's highest flyers.
