Louis Vuitton plans ‘most extraordinary’ luxury complex on Champs-Élysées by 2027

Louis Vuitton’s chief executive has set a high bar for the maison’s next Paris landmark, saying the goal is to complete a Champs-Élysées project by 2027 that would rank as the most extraordinary and luxurious complex ever built. “It’s a constant challenge, but we already have a clear goal,” Pietro Beccari said.

Beccari said the project embodies his view that luxury is both product and experience. While the product remains essential, he said, the experience amplifies its value.

The company is already applying that philosophy through immersive store concepts that combine museums, hospitality and exclusive experiences in cities such as Bangkok, Seoul, Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Beccari also recalled a compliment from Steve Jobs to LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault, in which Jobs predicted Louis Vuitton’s products would still exist a century from now, long after his phones were obsolete.

The Paris project follows recent retail moves including a new boutique at Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront, underscoring the house’s attention to craftsmanship.
