LOEWE Opens 140-Square-Metre Boutique on Palma de Mallorca's Paseo del Borne
LOEWE has opened a new boutique in the historic centre of Palma de Mallorca, stocking its full range of women's and men's ready-to-wear, bags, shoes and accessories. The 140-square-metre store blends Mallorcan craft references with artworks and the brand's signature leather furnishings.
The store occupies 140 square metres on Paseo del Borne, placing the Spanish house's complete product offer — women's and men's ready-to-wear, bags, shoes and accessories — on the island.
Its façade is clad in handcrafted ceramic tiles in a green chosen to echo the painted shutters found across Palma. That tiling carries through to the interior, where the palette widens to blue, yellow, green, orange and white in a reference to the Mallorcan landscape.
Locally produced hydraulic floor tiles and natural jute rugs run through the space, adding texture alongside furniture that pairs George Nakashima chairs in American black walnut with handcrafted tables made on the island. LOEWE's leather Puffer bench also features.
Art is given a central role. Two etchings by Paul Thek are displayed with ceramic works by Annie Turner, a 2019 LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize finalist, and sculptures by Keita Matsunaga that draw on ideas of repair and reuse.
Taken together, the architecture, craft objects and artworks are presented as a Mallorcan reading of the LOEWE retail world.
