Dibs Beauty and MacKenzie-Childs Unveil $100 Checkmate Vanity Set
Dibs Beauty is teaming up with home decor label MacKenzie-Childs on a limited-edition Checkmate Vanity Set, a $100 duo pairing a reworked brush with a capiz shell tray. The set launches Thursday on both brands' websites.
The collaboration brings together a color cosmetics brand known for functional tools and a home decor house founded in 1983 by artists Victoria and Richard MacKenzie-Childs. The resulting Checkmate Vanity Set retails at $100 and bundles two pieces: a Duo Brush Face and a Gold Check Capiz Vanity Tray.
The brush keeps the construction of Dibs' original dual-ended tool, with a large rounded head built for blending powder products and a dense angled head for creams. For this edition, it gains a burgundy checkered band through the middle.
The tray is a signature MacKenzie-Childs shape, made from natural capiz shell and finished with gold leaf fragments. It has been reworked to echo the Status Stick Face-and-Body Highlighter, which Dibs describes as its hero innovation.
Courtney Sutor, the influencer and Dibs cofounder, said the pairing grew out of a long familiarity with the decor label. "I grew up obsessed with MacKenzie-Childs. My mom is an entertainer, and she has so many pieces in our house," she said, adding that she had previously worked with the brand and that the design process came together smoothly.
Sutor framed the set around everyday usefulness finished to a higher aesthetic standard, saying the pieces are "things that you need and would be using, but made more beautiful." She noted that Dibs customers respond to attractive objects that serve a purpose.
