Clean Beauty Boutique Pretty Well Beauty Seeks Buyer as Founder Plans Exit

Pretty Well Beauty, a clean beauty retailer highlighting BIPOC-owned brands, is up for sale. Founder Jazmin Alvarez announced she will close the business if a buyer is not found before her relocation to Barcelona in September.

Jazmin Alvarez, founder of Pretty Well Beauty, has put her clean beauty boutique on the market. In an emotional video posted to Instagram on July 20, Alvarez revealed she is seeking a buyer for the New York City-based retailer. If no buyer emerges, she will shutter the business as she prepares to move to Barcelona, Spain, for a fresh start.

The boutique, which launched online in 2019, opened an 800-square-foot flagship store at Westfield World Trade Center Mall in November 2022. Located in one of Manhattan's busiest transit hubs, the shop carries 57 brands across skincare, body care, haircare, makeup, wellness, and men's grooming. Among its labels are Anima Mundi, Mango People, Leland Francis, Salwa Petersen, Shaz & Kiks, The Nue Co, and Peak & Valley.

Alvarez, who built the business to spotlight founders who look like her and their allies, described the decision as bittersweet. The video has been viewed over 9,000 times and was shared with the store's more than 14,500 Instagram followers. She cited personal and professional struggles as factors in her decision to step away.

Pretty Well Beauty's future now hinges on finding a buyer. If no deal is reached, the retailer will close its physical and online doors by September.
