CK Hutchison in Talks to Sell Marionnaud to Beauty Investor David Konckier

CK Hutchison Holdings is exploring the sale of European prestige beauty retailer Marionnaud to David Konckier, founder of BEHN and principal shareholder of the Bogart Group, signaling further consolidation in the sector.

The Hong Kong-based conglomerate CK Hutchison has confirmed it is holding exclusive talks to sell Marionnaud, the European prestige beauty chain, to investor David Konckier. Konckier is the founder of investment firm BEHN and the principal shareholder of perfume and cosmetics group Bogart.

Marionnaud operates approximately 700 stores across Europe, with 377 locations in France and additional outlets in Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Romania, and Switzerland. The retailer was acquired by Watson Group, a CK Hutchison subsidiary, in 2005 for HK$5.5 billion ($700 million) when it had 1,230 stores.

The potential acquisition would further Bogart's strategy of building a vertically integrated European perfumery network. It follows Bogart's recent purchase of German retailer Stadtparfümerie Pieper, which added 110 stores to its footprint.

CK Hutchison, which employs over 300,000 people in more than 50 countries, reported revenue of approximately HK$507 billion ($65 billion) in 2025. Its beauty portfolio includes Superdrug, Watsons, ICI Paris XL, and The Perfume Shop.

The transaction has not been finalized, but the exclusivity of the negotiations indicates serious intent and a focused phase of deal-making in the European prestige beauty retail space.
