CHANEL Acquires Historic Parisian Shirtmaker Charvet
CHANEL has acquired Charvet, the historic Parisian shirtmaker founded in 1838, aiming to preserve its craftsmanship and ensure creative independence.
The acquisition was sparked by creative dialogue between CHANEL's designer Matthieu Blazy and Charvet during the development of Blazy's first ready-to-wear collection for Spring/Summer 2026. This collaboration naturally led to a structured integration of the storied shirtmaker into the CHANEL house.
Charvet, located on Place Vendôme, is a Parisian institution in men's couture and bespoke tailoring. For nearly two centuries, it has dressed legendary figures including Charles Baudelaire, Marcel Proust, Winston Churchill, and Jean Cocteau.
The deal also holds personal significance for CHANEL due to a historical bond: Boy Capel, Gabrielle Chanel's great love, was a regular client of Charvet. "We are delighted with this partnership with Charvet, which holds special significance for CHANEL," said Bruno Pavlovsky, president of CHANEL's Fashion Division and CHANEL SAS, citing shared values of exacting standards and respect for craftsmanship.
