Bubba bets on Lollapalooza to debut revamped brand identity
Bubba brought its rebranded water bottles to Lollapalooza, and the festival appearance paid off with a social media lift from a Zara Larsson post.
Lollapalooza served as the launchpad for Bubba's new brand direction this summer. The nearly 30-year-old brand, known for its large insulated kegs, swapped its practical image for a lineup of more colorful, personalized water bottles designed to withstand festival conditions.
The activation aimed squarely at a younger, fashion-conscious consumer. Jimmy Jia, global vice president of the outdoor and beverage segment at parent company Newell Brands, said the brand is "unapologetically going after a younger female, a baddie," and festivals are where those shoppers are.
Beyond the on-site booth, Bubba placed customized bottles in the artist suites backstage. That move paid off when headliner Zara Larsson posted an Instagram story featuring the bottle, giving the brand a visibility boost it couldn't easily manufacture.
Bubba's social team capitalized on the moment, and its TikTok recreating the buzz has drawn over 15,000 views, compared with past posts that typically landed in the four-figure range.
