Biotech Firm ProTransit Launches Échelon Skincare Brand Targeting Free Radicals

Biotechnology company ProTransit has entered the skincare market with the launch of Échelon, a brand designed to combat excess free radicals. Free radicals, unstable molecules generated by sun exposure, pollution and inflammation, are linked to wrinkles, discoloration and collagen loss.

Échelon’s first two products are the Radical Rescue Extra Strength Nightly Renewal Serum and the Radical Rescue Morning Defense Primer Broad Spectrum SPF 30. Both formulations employ ProTransit’s patented Pro-MP delivery system, which uses microparticles to release the antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT).

According to ProTransit, the Pro-MP system enables a single application to release enzymes over 192 hours, neutralizing millions of excess free radicals on the skin. SOD and CAT work together to break down reactive compounds into water and oxygen, reducing oxidative stress.

Philippe Burnham, vice president of business development and marketing at ProTransit, noted that not all free radicals should be eliminated. “Free radicals are a problem, but they do have a good side. They help with immune defense,” he said.

The technology behind Échelon was adapted from pharmaceutical applications, marking a shift from traditional antioxidant ingredients like vitamin C, vitamin E and niacinamide.
