YouTube expands shopping affiliate program with Amazon product tagging for creators

YouTube is adding Amazon’s catalog to its Shopping affiliate program, letting eligible U.S. creators tag products across videos and earn commissions on sales.

The new capability, announced Thursday, means eligible creators in the U.S. can add Amazon product tags to Shorts, long-form videos, and livestreams. Instead of copying external Associates links into a description, creators can now select items from a curated Amazon catalog supplied directly to YouTube.

Amazon will provide YouTube with a selection of trending and frequently requested products for tagging. If a creator wants a product that isn’t listed, they can contact YouTube Support to request its addition.

The feature also includes an optional auto-tagging mode. When enabled, YouTube’s systems can scan recent uploads and automatically identify and tag eligible Amazon products.

Creators will be able to track overall daily earnings in YouTube Studio, though the analytics won't break down earnings by specific product or individual video. In cases where a viewer returns a purchase, the commission will be deducted from the creator’s balance.

The move deepens the connection between video content and commerce, giving creators a more direct revenue path while bringing Amazon’s marketplace into one of the largest video platforms.
