Whisker Takes Litter Robot to TikTok Shop Without Cutting the $699 Price

Whisker spent the past year joining TikTok Shop to reach Gen Z and Gen Alpha buyers with demo-driven content for its Litter Robot, holding firm on pricing instead of running deep discounts.

The pet-tech company entered the social commerce platform primarily to gain an early-adoption advantage and to put its automatic litter box in front of younger shoppers, according to chief marketing officer Hew Loyd.

At $699, the Litter Robot is a high-consideration purchase, but Whisker found the product's automated self-cleaning cycle translates well to short video. The company describes that mechanism as a "thumb stopper" — a visual hook that persuades scrolling viewers to stop and watch how the machine works.

Rather than leaning on the steep markdowns common on the channel, Whisker has kept its pricing steady and paired with niche content creators to produce the demos.

The push comes roughly three years after TikTok Shop's debut, a period in which direct-to-consumer brands have continued to debate whether the channel justifies sustained investment.

Whisker's stated aims on the platform are twofold: secure a foothold while adoption is still developing, and extend its reach to Gen Z and Gen Alpha audiences that skew younger than its traditional customer base.
