Soho House Opens in Tokyo's Aoyama District
Soho House has launched its first Tokyo location, occupying two floors of the new Omotesando Grid Tower in the upscale Aoyama area.
The members' club spans 6,968 sqm across the 13th and 14th floors of the 38-storey Omotesando Grid Tower. It includes 42 bedrooms, a rooftop pool and terrace, a wellness studio, and multiple event spaces.
The interior was designed by Soho House's in-house London team, blending the brand's signature maximalist aesthetic with Japanese craft elements. The entrance features a reception desk hand-crafted from Japanese lacquer panels by Kyoto's Makino Urushi workshop, and walls covered in handmade washi paper by Tokyo-based KAMISM.
On the 13th floor, the Club Lounge uses a deep burgundy red inspired by traditional Japanese lacquer, contrasted with British panelling. The ceiling echoes a tatami pattern, with tatami trim details. Vintage furniture sourced from Europe and Japan furnishes the spaces.
A spiral staircase connects the two club floors, and a lift also provides access. The colour palette throughout is moody, warm, and earthy, continuing the maximalist yet welcoming feel.
