Snapchat Launches Real-Time Music Sharing via Snap Map, Starting with Spotify

Snapchat announced on July 27, 2026, a new feature called “Now Playing” that allows users to share the music they are currently listening to directly on Snap Map. The integration starts with Spotify, with plans to support additional streaming services in the future.

Users can link their Spotify account within Snapchat and choose who gets to see their listening activity—options include all friends, a custom list, or only themselves. The feature does not display listening history or previously played songs, focusing solely on the current track.

Sharing remains active as long as the user has opened Snapchat within the past 24 hours. If inactive for more than a day, sharing is automatically paused until the app is reopened. Users can also manually pause sharing for three hours, 24 hours, or indefinitely.

The feature is also integrated into Spotlight, Snapchat’s short-form video platform. Users who discover a song in a Spotlight video can save it directly to Spotify or visit the track’s page on the streaming service.

This move aligns with broader social media trends toward music discovery and sharing, following similar features on platforms like TikTok that allow users to share songs from streaming services and save discovered tracks.
