Sainsbury's opens first Manchester Airport store in Terminal 3
Sainsbury's has opened its first store at Manchester Airport in Terminal 3 arrivals, offering convenience products and online collection services for Argos and Habitat.
The Sainsbury's Local in Terminal 3 arrivals marks the third UK airport to host a store from the grocery chain, following Edinburgh Airport (2024) and London Luton. The shop provides meal deals, food-to-go, home essentials and kitchen staples, catering to arriving passengers.
Customers can also order online from Sainsbury's Argos and Habitat brands for collection at the store. The opening is part of a multi-million pound revamp of Terminal 3, which earlier this year added a 400-plus-seat sports bar in the departure lounge. An Italian eatery, Terracotta, is scheduled to open later in 2025.
Manchester Airport Retail Director Richard Jackson said the iconic retailer enhances the terminal's retail offering and provides convenience for travellers returning home. The terminal has expanded in size following the closure of Terminal 1 earlier this year, with some of that terminal's floorspace incorporated into T3.
Sainsbury's entry into Manchester Airport underscores the growing trend of major grocery brands establishing a presence in UK transport hubs to capture passenger demand.
