PMY Group Deploys Crowd Intelligence Platform at Airports to Boost Retail Revenue

Technology firm PMY Group is expanding its Optic crowd intelligence platform in airports, using real-time data to help operators and retailers improve commercial performance.

PMY Group, a company specializing in technology and experience solutions for live events since 2009, is focusing on the airport sector with its Optic platform. The system provides real-time analysis of passenger movement using existing infrastructure such as CCTV cameras, LiDAR sensors, and ticketing data.

Optic delivers insights into queue lengths, dwell times, bottlenecks, and passenger hesitation patterns. This data allows airport operators and retailers to optimize layouts, staffing, and promotional strategies to increase sales.

The platform is already operational at Vancouver, Calgary, and Kelowna airports in Canada, as well as at major events like the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix and Winter Wonderland in the UK.

Chief Technology Officer Joe Costanzo stated that Optic helps airports extract greater value from their existing assets and data. The technology aims to transform how airports understand and respond to passenger behavior in real time.

PMY Group sees significant growth potential in the airport market, where commercial revenue is a key priority. The company’s solutions are designed to support data-driven decision-making for both operators and retailers.
