Ex-Grooming Writer Nick Burns and Beauty Vet Ye Jin Launch Hair Longevity Brand Manuscript
Nick Burns and Ye Jin, armed with deep industry experience and personal frustrations with hair loss products, are launching Manuscript, a brand focused on effective, sustainable hair longevity for both men and women.
I’ve incorporated the factual corrections while keeping the flow and style intact.
Nick Burns, a former grooming writer for outlets including GQ, Details, Esquire and The New York Times, and Ye Jin, a beauty marketing executive who held a senior role at Ever/Body and is an advisor and angel investor for Eadem, are teaming up to launch Manuscript, a hair longevity brand.
Burns, now a senior manager at Google overseeing HR communications and serving as a broadcast spokesperson, has personal experience with hair loss treatments that caused scalp irritation and sexual side effects from finasteride. Jin recalled using a product that left her hair so stiff she joked it was like ramen noodles.
The two met through a mutual friend in the fall of 2024, bonding over shared negative experiences with hair loss products and the growing concern around hair shedding linked to GLP-1 weight loss drugs. Those conversations sparked the idea for a brand that prioritises efficacy without the trade-offs that make long-term use difficult.
Manuscript aims to offer a sustainable hair care routine for both men and women, addressing a gap in the market for products that are effective yet gentle enough for daily, long-term use. The brand is currently in development, with a focus on avoiding the harsh side effects associated with many conventional hair loss solutions.
